APCOA has published its 2025 ESG Report, setting out the Group’s latest environmental, social and governance progress across its European operations.

The report focuses on measurable results.

During 2025, APCOA reduced its carbon footprint by 11%, expanded its EV charging network by 43% and increased the proportion of electric or hybrid vehicles in its operational fleet to 52%. It also records progress in workplace safety, diversity, community engagement and sustainability reporting. (apcoa.com)

Gemini Parking Solutions is part of the APCOA Parking Group in the UK. This connection combines Gemini’s established approach to ethical, customer-friendly parking management with the experience, technology and wider expertise of Europe’s leading parking operator.

Sustainability is one of our values because parking infrastructure has a direct influence on transport, energy use and the way valuable land is managed.

A well-planned car park can support lower-emission travel, reduce unnecessary vehicle movement and make better use of existing space.

The full report contains detailed performance data and examples from across Europe. These are three of the developments that stood out to us.

1. Carbon reductions are being measured and delivered

APCOA’s carbon footprint fell by 3,564.97 tonnes of CO2 equivalent during 2025, representing an 11% reduction compared with 2024. Total emissions have now fallen by 37% since 2021.

The Group also reports carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions across Europe, while 90% of its electricity consumption is supplied from renewable sources.

The method behind these figures matters. APCOA has updated its carbon accounting to reflect current Science Based Targets initiative guidance, the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and European sustainability reporting standards. This creates a stronger basis for comparing performance and identifying where further reductions can be made.

For businesses reviewing their own car parks, the same principle applies. Sustainability plans should begin with a clear understanding of current energy use, traffic patterns, equipment and operational processes. Improvements can then be selected for their practical impact rather than their appearance.

2. EV charging infrastructure continues to grow

APCOA installed 5,375 EV charging points in 2025, a 43% increase in one year. Its operational fleet also reached 52% electric or hybrid vehicles. (apcoa.com)

This reflects a wider change in the purpose of parking infrastructure. Car parks increasingly need to support charging and other mobility services alongside their traditional role of providing safe, accessible spaces.

Installing charge points still requires careful planning. A retail site with short customer visits will have different requirements from a hotel, workplace or residential development. Electrical capacity, expected dwell time, charger speed, payment methods and the management of charging bays all need to be considered.

For Gemini clients, APCOA’s continued investment provides useful experience at scale. It also reinforces why EV readiness should form part of a long-term parking strategy, even where immediate demand is still developing. Gemini already works with APCOA to support the installation and management of EV charging infrastructure across different types of sites. (Gemini Parking Solutions)

3. The report gives proper attention to people and safety

The report treats sustainability more broadly than carbon reduction. APCOA’s lost time injury frequency rate fell by 25% compared with the previous year, while 75 senior leaders across the Group completed dedicated safety training during 2025.

APCOA now employs people from 68 nationalities, with women holding 23% of leadership roles. The report also records continued work around employee inclusion, development and engagement.

There are practical examples within the UK as well. APCOA UK supported 168 hours of work experience for young people from schools across West London, alongside more than 30 hours of school-based training and engagement covering employability and career development.

These details matter because responsible parking management depends on people. Technology can improve monitoring, payment and access, but the quality of a service is still shaped by training, decision-making, safety standards and the way motorists and clients are treated.

Why we recommend reading the full report

The three points above represent only a small part of APCOA’s 2025 ESG activity. The full report covers carbon accounting, renewable energy, EV infrastructure, Urban Hubs, workplace safety, inclusion, supply-chain governance and projects delivered across individual European markets.

As part of APCOA, Gemini shares the responsibility to improve how parking sites operate for businesses, motorists and communities. For us, sustainability means making informed choices about technology, energy, space and service, then measuring whether those choices produce a genuine improvement.
